Nigel Barker is a Consultant Corneal Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados, the Principal and Consultant Ophthalmologist at Warrens Eye Care Centre and Corneal Services Barbados, a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (1991), and also has a general private practice. Dr. Barker received his MBBS from the University of the West Indies in 1986, completed postgraduate training at the University of Glasgow, followed by subspecialty Fellowships in Cornea, External Diseases & Refractive Surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, Australia and Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, Australia. He also holds an MBA with distinction from Durham Business School, United Kingdom. Dr. Barker has presented at international conferences, has published a number of articles on various eye diseases and treatments in peer-reviewed journals and hosts an annual lecture series highlighting advances in eye care. He is married with two children, is an avid gardener and sports fan and a proponent of sports medicine, particularly sports vision.
