Mr. Kevin Highland is a Consultant Vitreo-retinal Surgeon, one of two in the Eastern Caribbean and is a graduate of University of the West Indies (Mona / Cave Hill).
He started his training in Ophthalmology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Eye Department in 2001 and completed his MRCOphth in 2006 and FRCS (Glasgow) in 2010.
Mr Highland then began his Vitreo-retinal surgical training in the United Kingdom at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford (2012-2013) and completed his training with a Vitreo-retinal Fellowship at Royal Derby Eye Hospital (2013-2014).
He then returned to Barbados in 2014 to set up his own state of the art Vitreo-retinal service at Belleville Surgical in St Michael.
He is also a Sessional Consultant at the QEH Ophthalmology Department where he assists in providing a Vitreo-retinal service to the Barbadian public.
He also assists the medical faculty at the UWI by conducting regular teaching sessions with the Medical students and Ophthalmology residents and has presented on numerous occasions at local and Caribbean Ophthalmology conferences such as the Ophthalmological Society of the West Indies annual conference.
