Pediatric Ophthalmologist

Mrs Anne-Marie Hinds graduated from the University of the West Indies in 2007. In the final MB,BS examination she was awarded honours in surgery, along with the Merck Sharpe & Dohme prize for the highest aggregate mark in medicine.

Mrs Hinds then did her general ophthalmology training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. During that time, she received a number of prizes for research including the prize for the best research presentation by a resident at the 2010 meeting of the Ophthalmological Society of the West Indies. She was also twice winner of the first prize at the Professor E R Walrond Scientific Symposium in 2011 and 2013. In 2013 and 2014 she was presented with the Updates in Ophthalmology prize for the best research idea by a resident.

Anne-Marie completed two fellowships in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus in London at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Royal London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

At the British Isles Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Association (BIPOSA) annual conference in October 2016 in Dublin Anne-Marie presented results of research from Moorfields Eye Hospital on botulinum toxin for the treatment of horizontal strabismus in children. This received the prize for the best free paper presented by a medic in training. Mrs Hinds is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is currently a Locum Consultant in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She has presented at medical conferences in the Caribbean, India, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the U.S.A on several occasions.

In her free time, Anne-Marie enjoys reading and creative writing.
